Hydropower Station Oil System
Overview
The oil system of a hydropower station is a set of oil service systems that connect oil usage, storage, and oil processing equipment through a network of pipelines. In a hydropower station, when the unit control system is operating, the transmission of energy, lubrication, and cooling of the rotating parts of the unit are generally accomplished using oil as a medium. The oil system is mainly designed to serve the oil-using equipment of the hydropower station, consisting of a series of devices responsible for supplying oil, draining oil, and purifying and treating the oil.
Tasks and Composition of the Oil System
Tasks:
1. Accept new oil.
2. Store clean oil.
3. Supply oil to equipment.
4. Add oil to operating equipment.
5. Drain contaminated oil from equipment.
6. Purify and treat contaminated oil.
7. Supervise and maintain oil quality.
8. Collect and store waste oil.
Composition:
1. Oil storage
2. Oil processing room
3. Oil laboratory
4. Oil regeneration equipment
5. Pipeline network
6. Measurement and control elements
Functions of Oil
Functions of Turbine Oil:
1. Lubrication between the unit bearings and journal bearings.
2. Cooling of the bearings by circulating cooling water through the oil to remove heat.
3. Transmission of torque in the governor and ball valve control, or used as control oil.
Functions of Insulating Oil:
1. Insulation: Provides insulation between the windings of transformers, between windings and the core, and between windings and the casing.
2. Cooling: Transformer oil circulates to produce convection, thereby cooling the windings and core of the transformer.
3. Corrosion Prevention: Maintains the chemical and physical properties of wood and low-grade insulating materials and prevents corrosion of metals.
4. Arc Quenching: In electrical equipment, insulating oil can extinguish arcs to prevent short circuits and faults.
Summary
The oil system plays a vital role in a hydropower station, ensuring the normal operation and maintenance of the units. By providing essential functions such as lubrication, cooling, insulation, and control, the oil system supports the efficient, safe, and stable operation of the hydropower station.
